A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER KOVSCH MOSCOW, CIRCA 1760, CYRILLIC MAKER'S MARK IK, POSSIBLY FOR IVAN KARPOV OR IL'IA GRIGOR'EVICH KUCHKIN, UNIDENTIFIED CYRILLIC ASSAY MASTER'S MARK B.A Boat shaped and with a flat crown and foliage handle, with a later Imperial Russian double-headed eagle finial, the base repoussé and chased with a similar double-headed eagle, engraved on the sides with a cyrillic inscription and at the end with a depiction of Catherine the Great, the base pricked with St. George and the Dragon, marked under the finial and inside, also marked with a later French import mark 9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) long 7 oz. (220 gr.) The inscription translates as ' by the Grace of God we Catherine the 2nd Empress and Autocrat of all Russia.... Grant this Kovsch to the Ataman of the Grebensk Army at Zimavaia Settlement Dimitrii the Son of the military elder Stephan Bezubav for his faithful service [Given] at St. Petersburg in the year 1764 in July on the 5th Day .'
