A Regency mahogany and leather library partner's desk, circa 1815, the rectangular top with red gilt tooled leather inset, above three frieze drawers and three opposing drawers, on gadrooned tapered legs with brass caps and castors, bearing a label inscribed 'This table belonged to Decimus Burton and afterwards W.R Selway and came into my possession on the death of the latter in 1893' and a Lefevre paper label 'This table was bought at Christie's April 1985 by the Lefevre Gallery for Martin Summers', 75cm high, 161cm wide, 107.5cm Provenance: Owned by Decimus Burton purchased Christies, approx 1978, by current owner (authenticated) Note: Decimus Burton (1800-1881), British Architect, garden designer and protege of John Nash associated with the classical style. Notable works include The Athenaeum in Pall Mall and works in various London Parks.
