A rare green schist relief of Buddha and a royal donor Gandhara, 2nd/3rd century Buddha standing at right with his right hand raised in abhayamudra and his left clutching the folds of his diaphanous sanghati , the face serene with gentle smile and almond-shaped eyes centered by an incised urna , the hair in wavy locks over the ushnisha and backed by a lotiform nimbus, with the royal donor at left dressed in a heavy cloak and long tunic over breeches tied at the ankles, adorned with a belt, lotiform necklace and a shawl clasped around his shoulders, the mustachioed face with bow-shaped mouth and steady gaze, the hair finely incised and pulled back from the face 42 in. (106.8 cm.) high
