A RARE FRENCH 7-BORE SINGLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION BALL-GUN BY LE PAGE, ARQ.ER DU ROI, CIRCA 1840 With browned twist three-stage sighted barrel signed 'LE PAGE ARQ.ER DU ROI' and 'BREVET©E' in gold on the octagonal breech section, case-hardened patent breech inlaid with two gold lines and with pierced platium plug, foliate engraved tang with raised sighting groove, scroll engraved back-action lock with large hammer signed 'LE PAGE BREVET©E' in gold (mechanism at fault), figured walnut half-stock (grip smashed through and repaired with applied strips of metal) with chequered grip (butt with old worm holes), foliate engraved iron mounts (trigger-guard tang broken through), iron sling mounts (front mount incomplete), and brass-mounted wooden ramrod, some original finish to barrel and breech 29½in. (73.7cm.) barrel
