A RARE CASED 36-BORE WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT FIVE-SHOT SELF-COCKING PERCUSSION REVOLVER BY WESTLEY RICHARDS, 170 NEW BOND ST., LONDON (PATENTEE), SERIAL NO. 191 FOR 1854 With blued octagonal sighted barrel signed in full, plain cylinder, case-hardened border and scroll engraved frame with platinum-weighted gravitating hammer safety-stop on the right side, blued barrel locking-catch, bright Westley Richards patent rack and pinion rammer, chequered figured walnut spurred butt, and border and scroll engraved trigger-guard and butt-cap, the former blued, the latter with hinged trap-cover and engraved 'Fitzroy A.T. Clayton/Grenr. Gds.', retaining some of its original finish throughout, Birmingham proof marks, in original fitted oak case, lined with green baize, with accessories including revolver flask, Westley Richards bright steel combined nipple wrench/loading-rod, Joyce percussion cap tin with marbled paper wrapper, brass triple-cavity ball mould serial numbered to the revolver, some kid leather-patched balls and a calling card for William Bishop titled 'The Bishop of Bond Street', the lid with Westley Richards trade label, the exterior with shaped escutcheon 5 7/8in.
