A quantity of jockeys' silks, in the racing colours of Mrs. Anne Bullitt, late of Palmerstown Stud, Naas, Co. Kildare, in navy and white stripes. The success of Palmerstown Stud and its rich racing legacy is owed predominantly to its owner Mrs. Anne Bullitt, and Tommy Shaw, the Head Trainer during the 1950's/ 1960's. From 1958-1964 Palmerstown Stud had 110 winners. 'Milesian' a resident stallion of Palmerstown, was the sire to 38 of the 74 horses that raced during this seven-year period, his progeny included Atlantis, Ionian, L'Homme Arme, Marco Polo, Mystery, Partholon and Scissors. During this time their navy and white racing colours became famous, and were worn by jockeys such as Kildare born Liam Ward, who built up quite the portfolio as a jockey for Palmerstown winning The Irish 1000 Guineas, The Ladbroke Gold Cup, The Duke of Edinburgh Stakes (twice), The National Stakes (twice), The Ulster Harp Derby (twice) and the Beresford Stakes. Other jockeys to wear Palmerstown's racing colours included Phil Canty, T.P. Burs, Paddy Powell, Joe Mercer, Joe Sime, G.W. (Willie) Robinson and Pat Taafe. Sadly after much success in the racing field Mrs Biddle (Anne Moen Bullitt) decided in 1965 to abandon the racing hub and focus her attentions on breeding. Provenance: Estate of The Late Mrs. Anne Bullitt of Palmerstown Stud. A quantity of jockeys' silks, in the racing colours of Mrs. Anne Bullitt, late of Palmerstown Stud, Naas, Co.
