A PALE GREEN JADE HANDLE IN THE FORM OF A CRESTED BIRD, SHANG DYNASTY (1600-1100BC)
A PALE GREEN JADE HANDLE IN THE FORM OF A CRESTED BIRD, SHANG DYNASTY (1600-1100BC) the stone altered to white near the base, the flattened jade with incised eye detail and geometric scrolling wing depiction with a high comb to its head that trails down the back of the body, three drilled holes to head and comb area, perspex stand; a pale celadon jade finial, the curved section of stone modelled as a stylised bird with shaped and incised wing detailing and pointed beak, a drilled projection to the base would allow the piece to be fitted to other materials, three drilled holes to bird, two through the head, one through the tip of the wings, Shang Dynasty (1600-1100BC); a completely altered bird pendant with a sharp beak, full round breast, incised wing detailing and long voluminous tail feathers, two drill holes to beast, only one penetrates the body, late Shang/Western Zhou Dynasty (1600-771BC); and another olive green jade bird pendant, almost completely altered to ivory white modelled as above with wider dimensions, Late Shang (1600-1100BC) -- The first 3 7/16in. (8.7cm.) high. (4)
