Beschreibung:

A pair of Tekke womanÆs trousers in a new style that has come in in the last ten years or so, in kesdi stitch but rosette patterns and orange instead of yellow(As-89). Women say theyÆve forgotten how to make the yellow dye. Bought Ashgabat market, 1999; another pair of Tekke womenÆs trousers, the cuffs solidly embroidered in cross stitch in borders, guls and risers. The guls are like carpet patterns and are very unusual, (As-88). Bought Ashgabat market, 1995; a pair of Tekke womenÆs trousers, the cuffs embroidered in fine kesdi stitch, (As-89). Bought from embroidery friends of JahanÆs, Ashgabat, 1995; a Tekke womanÆs green silk coat, 117cm long, (As-117). Bought Ashgabat market, 1997; a pair of womenÆs trouser cuffs, sold stitched together ready for making up, worked in eyelet stitch in yellow, white and black, (As-87). æThis eyelet work is very unusual but might be Tekke. By 2004 such dress pieces, including neck fronts, were always machine embroidered.Æ Bought Ashgabad market, 1995; and a length of pink keteni with yellow selvedges, (As-260). æThis is for young girls, while mauve and green are supposed to be for older women and red stripe for men. Bought Ashgabat market in the late 1990s, intending to make it into a jacket, but never did.Æ See Embroidered Textiles, p.41
