Beschreibung:

A pair of George II sterling silver casters, London 1735 by Charles Hatfield Comprising a pepper caster and a blind caster for mustard. Each of vase form upon spreading circular feet, the pull off domed covers surmounted by bell shaped finials. One cover with eight panels separated by vertical ribs with alternating pierced decoration of either scroll or nought cross, the blind caster lid formed the same but engraved to resemble piercing. Each engraved to the body with a contemporaneous impaled coat of arms, the dexter with a cadency mark for a second son. The obverse’s later engraved with a crest of upon a chapeau a lion statant guardant. Engraved with scratch weights underneath of 6=9 to the pepper caster and 6=17 to the blind caster. Each fully marked underneath, lion passant only to sleeve of blind caster, pepper caster lid unmarked. (2) Height – 14.4 cm / 5.7 inches Weight – 402 grams / 12.92 ozt The arms are for Bunbury impaling Graham For Reverend Sir William Bunbury, 5th Bt. (1709-1764) who married Eleanor Graham (d.1764) before 1735. He the second surviving son of Sir Henry Bunbury, 3rd Bt (d.1732/33) and Susannah Hanmer (d.1744), he succeeded to the Baronetcy Bunbury, of Bunbury and Stanney, co. Chester [E., 1681] upon the death of his older brother Sir Charles Bunbury, 4th Bt. (1707 – 1742). In 1746 he succeeded to the Barton and Mildenhall properties on the death of his uncle, Sir Thomas Hanmer 4th Bt (1677-1746). He was the Vicar at Mildenhall, Suffolk, England. He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 23 June 1755 with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)
