The design for this type of mount is believed to have its origins in the work of Leon Message during the 1890s.
This distinctive mount is generally found on pieces produced by Francois Linke and hence is more widely associated with Linke and his firm's output than with any other cabinet maker. However, it also features on furniture made by Joseph-Emanuel Zwiener and Maison Krieger.
