Each finely painted to the interior with a cockerel standing on a craggy rock amid blooming peonies below a fluttering butterfly, encircled by an elaborate band of alternating ruyi heads and brocade-patterned panels, enclosing stylized lotus blossoms borne on interlocking vines suspending pomegranates. (2) Provenance: English trade. Condition: Both dishes with old wear, firing irregularities, minute glaze flaking and small frits. The first in very good condition with one short hairline to the rim. The second with one small touchup to a glaze loss and a minor chip to rim with associated hairline and tiny fill.
