A Meissen teabowl and saucer and a Meissen teabowl and a saucer Circa 1730, blue crossed swords marks, blue E to footrim of one teabowl, blue v to footrim of saucer, blue T to footrim of other teabowl and blue c to footrim of saucer The teabowls painted in underglaze blue with continuous scenes of exotic birds in flight by flowering shrubs and stylised rockwork, the base of the interiors with flower-sprays, overgilt and tooled at Augsburg to the same design, the interiors with broad gilt dentil band borders, the saucers similarly decorated with a bird perched on a flowering shrub within a circular gilt band cartouche, one with similar gilt border, the other with a gilt band border edged with scrolls and husks, the undersides of the saucers with concentric blue lines (both teabowls with minor rubbing to gilding, particularly to rim of one, the saucers also with minor rubbing and surface scratches to gilding, particularly to wells) (3)
