A Meissen silver-mounted Kakiemon jug and cover Circa 1730, blue crossed swords mark The elongated pear-shaped jug of quatrefoil ogival section with a shallow spout, the scroll handle finely modelled to simulate a branch with foliage terminals, the foliage of the lower terminals with flowers, the body painted with the 'Flying Fox' pattern with bound hedges, berried branches meandering about bamboo staves, a yellow squirrel with black dot markings eating berries and a flying red fox to the left, the quatrefoil ogival domed cover with a flying fox, the cover mounts with a shell thumb-piece, waved edge and shell above the spout (areas of very slight wear to enamels, slight chipping to footrim, small chip to one leaf terminal, a minute chip to two leaf terminals, the cover with two chips adjacent to mount at rim) 7¼ in. (18.3 cm.) high overall
