A LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED KINGWOOD AND TULIPWOOD PARQUETRY SECRETAIRE A ABATTANT BY ROGER VAN DER CRUSE ('RVLC'), DIT LACROIX, CIRCA 1785 The D-shaped grey-veined white marble top above a Vitruvian scroll frieze fitted with a drawer and a fall-front centred by an oval medallion, the reverse with a leather-lined writing surface, enclosing an interior with six short drawers and wells, flanked by simulated fluted uprights the rounded angles with three galleried shelves, the lower section with a frieze drawer on turned tapering legs terminating in toupie feet, stamped 'R.V.L.C.', with a circular label illegibly inscribed and remains of blue-bordered label, the floral trails to front angles and foliate clasps to back angles associated 49¼ in. (125 cm.) high; 34¼ in. (87 cm.) wide; 14¼ in. (36 cm.) deep
