Realistically modelled as a Picador in traditional dress, the whole dramatically posed, his horse rearing with nostrils flaring and sinews strained, spear held aloft in readiness to attack a charging bull, atop a rectangular ebonised wooden plinth, height total with plinth 60cm.FootnotesA similar modelled mounted Picador can be seen on the Ascot racing trophy 'The Queen's Cup' of 1849, by R. & S. Garrard & Co, London 1848, with the design attributed to Edmund Cotterill. This trophy currently resides in the 'Burghley House Collection'.
