Comprising extremely rare George Bolton patent enclosed screwless flintlock mechanism from a sporting gun (cock, pan and working parts missing), the flat plate with inwardly curved tail engraved with a gundog and gamebirds in a landscape above 'G. Bolton Esq., London, Inv.t.' and with 'patent', a crown above over 'T. Fisher Maker' (rust patinated overall); a Maynard's tape priming mechanism of characteristic form, stamped 'VXR' crowned and 'Mass. Arms Co. Chicopee Falls U.S.A. 1856', and retaining most of its case-hardened and blued finish; a mechanism from a Westley Richards & Co. 'monkey-tail' percussion carbine, dated 1867 in a triangle on the tail; an Indian flintlock mechanism from a military musket engraved with a coat-of-arms; six percussion mechanisms from military muskets (three converted or rebuilt from flintlock), two stamped 'F.A.' and dated 1877 on the tail; two pairs and three single back-action percussion mechanisms from Continental sporting guns; two Spanish miquelet-lock mechanisms (incomplete); five Turkish miquelet-lock mechanisms from longarms (three incomplete), one with silver encrusted decoration including a date beneath the mainspring; seven Spanish percussion mechanisms from sporting guns; and three North African snaphaunce mechanisms from longarms (some parts missing, some pitting and rust patination overall) (32) The first 14 cm.
