Beschreibung:

Comprising a black leatherette date book with "Agenda 1962" and "Journal de record" on the cover, consisting of entries written in French by film editor Elyane Bretherton, who along with her co-editor, detailed the day-to-day activities of shooting The Longest Day (1962). The journal includes interesting drawings and writings pertaining to producer Darryl F. Zanuck, with whom they shared a drink every night at 4:00 (upon his insistence). In the journal, Zanuck is referred to as "Zaza," and according to Bretherton, he was quite a force to be reckoned with. Accompanied by a watercolor and crayon drawing (artist unknown) of Zanuck as the Devil, inscribed "Elyane--We will / miss you / Darryl Z." which Zanuck gave to Bretherton at the end of filming; 2 Typed Letters Signed ("D.F.Z.," "Darryl"), 1 p each, 4to, Paris, both dated August 10, 1962, to Elyane Vuillermoz (Bretherton's maiden name) and Khalil El Koury (the first president of Lebanon, according to the letter), introducing Elyane to Koury, on "The Longest Day" stationery, with original transmittal envelope (they were both sent in the same envelope); an 8 x 10.5 in. silver gelatin photograph of Zanuck smoking a cigar; and a 6 x 9.25 in. photograph of the editing crew of The Longest Day, with an identification sheet of each person in the photo. 8 x 10.5 x 3 in.
