A good 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope, engraved on the foot C. Verick, élève spécial de E. Hartnack rue de la Parcheminerie, 2, Paris , with double draw-tube focusing and micrometer fine adjustment, black glass stage with slide clips and plano-concave substage mirror, the main limb tilting on a compass joint from a short rectangular-section pillar to the U-shaped base, with eyepieces numbered 1-3, a green leather-covered box with a stamped wooden fitting inside with four objectives numbered 0, 2, 6 and 7 ( three unnumbered spaces empty ), further stamped 902 , with stage-mounted bull's-eye condensor and live box, in a fitted mahogany case, the edge stamped C. VERICK 902 , with brass carrying handle ( lock broken ) -- 28.5cm. (11¼in.) wide ; with two mahogany slide boxes containing approximately 133 amateur slide preparations, some labelled by J. AMADIO 7 Throgmorton St LONDON , one unmarked microphotograph slide, one microphotograph slide scratched Waterloo Banquet , four Steward microphotographs: Smugglers on the Watch, The Duellists - "Now Sir", Hunting the Polar Bear and no.13 London Bridge , plus four Dancer microphotographs no's 66 (Draught Horses), 82 (Blind Man's Bluff, painted by David Wilkie R.A.), 97 (St Sulpice) and 125 (The Retriever, painted by Sir Edwin Landseer R.A.)
