A GERMAN SILVER-GILT HOT WATER JUG AND A GROUP OF TABLE SILVER THE JUG CIRCA 1790 Of vase form, on beaded circular foot, with reeded mid-bands and beaded borders, the hinged cover with berried foliate spray finial, lacking handle, marked under foot and on base with standard mark, apparently lacking maker's mark ; together with thirteen tablespoons, fiddle and thread pattern, eleven mark of Charles-Salomon Mahler, Paris, 1819-1838, two mark of Pierre Défontaine, Paris , 1809-1819, nine table forks, five mark of C-S Mahler, Paris, 1819-1838, four mark of P. Défontaine, Paris, 1809-1819, all engraved on reverse with accolé arms beneath a crown; five forks and eight spoons, maker's mark PG, 1819-1838, fiddle pattern; three spoons and two forks, maker's mark RD, post-1838 ; together with an American silver table service, Gorham Manufacturing Company, Providence, 20th century , Imperial Chrysanthemum pattern, comprising: eleven dinner forks, nine dessert forks, five table spoons; a silver ladle, and fifty-eight pieces of assorted silver-plated flatware and a posy holder 13 in.
