A GEORGE III SILVER-GILT TRAVELLING TOILET-SERVICE MOST WITH MARK OF JOHN HARRIS OR HENRY CHAWNER, LONDON, 1789, THE CASE MOUNTS AND FOUR BOTTLES COVERS, LONDON, 1821 Engraved with the Royal arms with a label for difference and below Prince of Wales's crown, comprising: A part-fluted basin, by Henry Chawner 11 7/8 in. (30.3 cm.) wide Two pairs of stacking beakers, the outer of each with reeded rim 4 in. (10.2 cm.) high and smaller Two toilet boxes and covers 4 in. (10.2 cm.) high and smaller A box with pierced cover, the cover fixed, fitted with four silver-gilt-mounted dressing table boxes, one broken 4 in. (10.2 cm.) high Six oblong toilet-boxes, the cover of one pierced 5 3/4 in. (14.6 cm.) long and smaller A circular cover with reeded rim and collet foot 4 in. (10.2 cm.) diam. The following engraved with Prince of Wales’s feathers within Garter motto and below a Royal duke’s coronet: A burner stand and lamp with a cover with a collet finial 3 7/8 in. (9.9 cm.) diam. A shaving brush the case 3 in. (8 cm.) long Six various silver-gilt mounted glass bottles and one extra cover, apparently unmarked 5 5/8 in. (14.2 cm.) long and smaller A silver-gilt mounted whet-stone, apparently unmarked 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm.) long A silver-gilt mounted strop with red leather cover, apparently unmarked 12 in. (30.5 cm.) long and the following engraved with the Royal crest within Garter motto and below Royal crown Eight silver-gilt mounted dressing table bottles, seven with internal stoppers with loop handles, London, 1821 5 3/4 in. (14.5 cm.) high Assorted metal and tortoiseshell implements, some engraved with the Prince of Wales's feathers within Garter motto and below the Prince of Wales's crown Four unengraved silver-gilt mounted bottles Contained in a fitted silver-gilt mounted mahogany case, engraved on each handle mount and the cover with the Royal arms below the Royal coronet the case 27 5/8 in. (70.2 cm.) long weighable silver 133 oz. 14 dwt. (4,159 gr.) The Royal arms with the Prince of Wales's crown and the Prince of Wales's feathers are for George Augustus Frederick, Prince of Wales (1762-1830), later King George IV (r.1820-1830). The Royal arms and Royal crest are those of George IV (r.1820-1830).
