A George II miniature gilt-brass mounted tortoiseshell eight day striking bracket clock on wall bracket, for the Ottoman market The case and dial early 18th Century and signed R. Peckover, London. Movement early 19th Century and signed James How, Kent The case with foliate gilt-brass handle to the brass-bound caddy top with gilt-brass pierced and engraved foliate sound frets to all sides, later urn finials to all angles above gilt-brass moulding, gilt-brass lined doors and conforming glazed side panels, the 3 in. wide brass dial with silver spandrels to silvered chapter ring with Turkish numerals, signed R. Peckover/LONDON on applied silvered plaque to the matted centre, rolling Turkish moon to the arch, blued steel hands, the later movement with five ring-turned pillars, twin chain fusees, anchor escapement and rack strike on gong, signed James How/Bromley KENT on the back plate; with original gilt-brass bound wall bracket, winding key The clock--10½ in. (27 cm.) high, handle down; the bracket--4 in. (10 cm.) high
