A GEORGE II GOLD-MOUNTED HARDSTONE SWIVEL-SEAL LONDON, CIRCA 1745 chased scrolling rococo mount with double-sided female and male mask finial, the three-sided citrine seal engraved with a coat-of-arms, a male profile head and a winged spur crest below motto 'Nunquam Non Paratus', (Never Unprepared) 2 in. (48 mm.) high The arms are those of Johnston of Scotland, the most senior branch of the family being the Marquess of Annandale, now extinct.
