A French Giltwood Barometer 18th century having a wreath carved frame with a torch trophy crest. Height 34 x width 19 inches. Estimate $ 1,500-2,500 Frame in decent stable condition. Gilt finish mostly intact but dirty with area of chipping and exposed gesso. Some evidence of worming on back of frame. Face with some fading and age splits. Barometer lacking elements, not functional and without mercury. Thermometer also seems to be lacking mercury.
