A FRENCH GILT BRONZE AND ROUGE MARBLE CLOCK GARNITURE, comprising a centrepiece and a pair of candelabra, the centrepiece cast from a model by Mathurin Moreau with a figure of a naked nymph seated on a rock, with three doves fluttering about her, on a circular naturalistic base signed Math. Moreau and impressed to the reverse SUSSE FRES and with SUSSE FRERES EDITEURS PARIS impressed in a roundel and also impressed with the letter M and the number 4 to the underside, on a circular stepped plinth above a rouge marble fluted waisted socle, fitted with a twin-train movement with a cream enamel dial and gilt hands and with gilt-bronze foliate spray enrichments to the sides and front, on four foliate-scrolled feet; the pair of seven-light Louis XV style candelabra each surmounted by a detachable vine-enriched finial, the central foliate stem with six scrolled arms each with foliate nozzles and drip-pans issuing from a spirally-fluted, foliate-enriched support, on a baluster-turned support and fluted, waisted socle with four foliate-scrolled feet (the central stem of one candelabra slightly bent), last quarter 19th Century the centrepiece: 12¾in.
