A French engraved gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted striking and repeating carriage clock Drocourt, No.14492, retailed by D.C. Rait & Sons, Paris. Circa 1875 The cannelee case engraved with trailing flowers and leaves against a stipple ground, the sides mounted with Sèvres-blue panels painted with scenes of classical maidens with Cupid within gilt borders, one releasing a bird from a cage and the other with bow, with oval viewing glass to the top, the conforming dial painted with a maiden approaching a sleeping Cupid within a glade, the Roman chapter ring with retail signature to the centre D.C. RAIT & SONS PARIS , with blued steel spade hands, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to the lever escapement with bimetallic balance, strike/repeat on gong to the back plate with punched stamp for Drocourt and numbered 11492 , with repeat number to the base plate 5¼in. (13.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
