A FOUR PIECE SILVER TEA AND COFFEE SERVICE WITH A TWO HANDLED SUGAR BOWL, the service maker's mark of Wood & Hughes, circa 1870, the sugar bowl maker's mark of Gorham, no. 211, the service comprising teapot, coffee pot, two handled covered sugar bowl and covered milk jug, each vase form, on raised circular base, two sides applied with portrait medallion within chased and engraved floral spray and leafy terminal, and topped by engraved initial, with notched loop handles, die rolled rims, the partly domed cover with raised wedge form reserves enclosing stipplied design and topped by openwork anthemion enclosed scroll baluster finial, the milk jug and sugar bowl with helmeted warrior profile medallions, the pots with maiden's profile medallions, with highly upturned spout, the covers hinged, the additional sugar bowl with two profile medallions and with two strap handles-- the coffee pot 13¼in. (33.6cm.) high, together with a pair of monogrammed sugar tongs-- gross weight 108.5oz. (6)
