A FLORENTINE BIBLICAL TAPESTRY OF THE 'GATHERING OF MANNA' Circa 1595 - 96, after Alessandro Allori by Guasparri di Bartolomeo Papini as director of the workshop Woven in wools and silks, depicting Moses seated to the background with the table and surrounded by elders under a canopy, the right with people getting manna and the foreground with numerous seated children and adults within an elaborate border with cherub clasps to the corners and dense fruiting swags, the sides with panels depicting 'Faith' to the left and 'Charity' to to the right, framed by angles, the top centered by a medalion with the chalice of the host, flanked by angles, the border centred by a vase filled with manna within a brown outerslip, the brown outer slip to top covered by later brown bands the bottom partially turned over and with fragmentary town mark for Florence and weaver's initials 14 ft. x 14 ft. 8 in. (427 cm. x 446 cm.)
