A fine early 19th-Century English lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope, signed on the folding tripod foot Dollond London , the barrel screwing into a limb at the top of a square-section column with rack and pinion adjusted stage, substage condensor lens and substage plano-concave mirror, tilting on a compass joint to a tapering brass column with folding tripod foot, with one plain objective with threaded brass cap, two lieberkuhn-mounted objective, brass disc with apertures for six different objective sizes, two glass lenses, a stage mounted lieberkuhn, stage-mounted bull's-eye condensor and forceps, a separate eared live box support, live box, frog plate, tweezers, an ivory-handled spike, a brass slider with four cells in a brass sleeve, a number of retaining rings in a brass canister, two large ivory sliders numbered 1 and 3, four smaller ivory sliders, and an iron key for the compass joint, contained in the original fitted mahogany case with two brass hooks and eyes -- 13½in.
