A fine early 19th-Century brass and ferrous metal model six pillar single cylinder condensing rotative beam engine built by Chadburn Brothers, Sheffield, circa 1840, with cylinder 1¼in. bore x 3½in. stroke, inward facing truncated 'D'-shaped valve and steamway, delicate parallel motion with barrelled radius and anchor links, rod driven underfloor mounted air pump, decorative fluted barrelled connecting rod, two feed pump rods, gear driven Watt type governor, linkage and valve, pierced valve eccentric, inboard and outboard main bearings, the outboard with decorative pierced framing and spoked flywheel. Other details include fluted brass centre columns, the end columns, of doric form, with gothic arches, the whole mounted on a simulated tile floor on a cast bed with cast decorations in eight panels and finished in dark green and polished brightwork on a tiered mahogany base.
