A Fine Cased Pair Of 44-Bore Percussion Duelling Pistols By John Manton & Son, Dover Street, London, No. 10127 for 1831 With signed browned twist octagonal sighted multi-groove rifled barrels, scroll engraved case-hardened patent breeches each with engraved pierced platinum plug, scroll engraved case-hardened tangs, signed scroll engraved case-hardened detented locks each with blued safety-catch, finely figured walnut half-stocks, chequered butts, finely engraved blued iron mounts, silver escutcheons engraved with crest and initials 'H.J.', silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, original brass-tipped ramrods, blued set triggers, horn fore-end caps, and most of their original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case (one compartment lid cracked) with accessories including three-way flask covered in red leather, the lid with trade label, flush-fitting carrying handle, and circular escutcheon engraved with the same crest and initials as the pistols, London proof marks 15in.
