E.Gubelin The rectangular case with engine turned silver hinged rear cover, but otherwise decorated all over with Chinoiserie scenes depicting shore-side scenes and cranes in black, red, green and gilt, all on a mustard yellow ground, raised on a carved green hardstone base, set to the top with a black enamel button (depressing the button half way will open the shutters, depressing the button fully will actuate the minute repeat system whereby the hours are struck on the first coiled steel gong, the quarters sounded on both gongs and the remaining minutes on the second gong), the interior of the shuttters and the dial surround similarly decorated with standing cranes and stylised Arabic numerals, the rectangular dial with gilt engine turned lattice decoration and matching orange and green enamelled hands, the spring driven movement accessed via the hinged rear cover and marked 'Geneva clock Co. Swiss, Fifteen 15 jewels. Three adj(ustments), with lever platform escapement repeating the hours and minutes on two polished steel gongs and hammers. Together with a key and a signed, silk- and velvet-lined double-doored presentatin case 10cms (4ins) high.
