Beschreibung:

A Fine And Rare Cased 11mm. Lefaucheux Patent 1855 Model Pin-Fire Revolver With Interchangeable Percussion Cylinder By Eugne Lefaucheux, Paris, No. 4213, circa 1855 With blued sighted barrel engraved 'E. Lefaucheux Bt. Paris' and decorated in low relief with vine leaves and tendrils against a stippled ground, gold-inlaid initial 'S' at the breech, and struck with two maker's marks ( Neue Stckel 7769-70), blued cylinders and trigger-guard, case-hardened hammer and frame all decorated en suite with the barrel, the last involving two dragons, ebony grips carved in relief with vine leaves and bunches of grapes, lanyard ring, and most of its original finish: in original fitted mahogany-veneered case lined in dark green velvet with original accessories including two bullet moulds (lid exterior cracked, brass escucheon detached) 106in. (26.5cm.) Eugne Lefaucheux was granted a second certificate of additions to his original 1854 patent in October 1855, protecting his idea of interchangeable pin-fire and percussion cylinders for breech-loading revolvers, thus allowing the more traditional percussion system to be used if the new pin-fire cartridges were in short supply. The interchangeable percussion cylinder has vertical nipples to align with the hammer of pin-fire type
