A Dutch walnut longcase clock Willem Van Bramer, Amsterdam; second quarter 18th century The line-inlaid case with bomb front plinth, hollow-cornered arched trunk door with shell carving to the top and a chronos-cast brass lenticle, brass capitals to the -columns supporting the elaborate caddy top with later pierced wood frets and elaborate shell carving, the dial signed Willem Jan Bramer Amsterdam on the silvered arcaded Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, the gilt matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring with engraved central starburst and calendar aperture, rolling moonphase beneath foliate engraving, the apron below with a back-pinned large brass plaque painted, in the French Romantic style of Antoine Watteau, with a couple dancing in a romantic landscape with a musician seated to one side, the four pillar movement with Dutch strike on two bells and anchor escapement 9ft. 6ins. (260 cm.) high
