A DUTCH SILVER EGG-CRUET WITH FOUR GEORGE III SILVER EGG-CUPS The cruet with maker's mark of William van der Goorberg, Leiden, 1782, the egg-cups with maker's mark of Henry Chawner, London, 1789 The cruet formed as an oval basket on four ball-and-claw feet, the sides pierced with pales and engraved with garlands, the similarly decorated removable inner frame with four octagonal vase-shaped egg-cups, surmounted by a detachable oval salt with beaded borders, two handles, and domed cover with flame finial, the basket with beaded handle and beaded rim with four George III spoons, maker's mark of William Sumner and Richard Crossley, London , the salt, cups and spoons engraved with a crest, the basket, salt and egg-cups marked under bases, also struck with later Dutch control marks, the basket stamped LAMBERT COVENTRY ST. LONDON, the inner frame unmarked 6¾in. (17cm.) long 24ozs. (754gr.)
