A CONTINENTAL ENGRAVED-GLASS-MOUNTED EBONY AND EBONISED WOOD RECTANGULAR CASKET AND COVER THE GLASS PANELS MID-17TH CENTURY, THE CASE PROBABLY CONTEMPORARY, THE PANELS ALMOST CERTAINLY NUREMBERG, PROBABLY THE WORKSHOP OF GEORG SCHWANHARDT The cover and sides of the casket inset with rectangular panels engraved with hunting scenes, the base of the casket with a glass panel engraved with a portrait of Johann Georg I of Saxony, three-quarter length, with his hand resting on a cane, the edges of the casket ripple-moulded, the base with a concealed removable mirrored panel (some minor scratches to the glass panels) 5¾ in. x 7 5/8 in. x 6 in. (14.6 cm. x 9.4 cm. x 15.3 cm.)
