A CONTINENTAL CARVED GILTWOOD AND PAINTED MIRROR SOUTH GERMAN OR AUSTRIAN, 17TH CENTURY AND LATER 161cm high, 133cm wide Condition Report: SALEROOM NOTICE: The date of this mirror is IN 17TH CENTURY STYLE, 19TH CENTURY , not 17th century and later. There are scratches, marks, knocks, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use. There are losses, observations and restorations including: the mirror plate is a modern 'speckled' replacement; there is some craquelure to the gilding and the polychrome paint; there is some evidence of worm; there are some chips revealing the underlying wood and gesso; some repairs with later gilding covering; the back with a blackened metal wall fixing.
