A Chinese huanghuali small throne or mirror stand, probably 19th century. The top rail decorated with a flaming pearl and with dragon head terminals, the back, sides and front rails set with reticulated panels carved with birds and kylin amidst foliage, the front with an arrangement of five drawers and carved in relief with further flowers and scroll work, 74.5cm high, 54.5cm wide. Cf. Christie's, New York, Important Chinese Furniture, 19th September 1996, lot 56 for a similar example dated to the 17th century.
