A CHARLES II SMALL LABURNUM OYSTER VENEERED ARCHITECTURAL STRIKING EIGHT-DAY LONGCASE CLOCK EDWARD EAST LONDON, CIRCA 1670 CASE: the rising hood with later cartouche mount to the pediment and gilt Corinthian capitals and bases to the bowed front columns and rear quarter columns, glazed side panels, the lozenge-inlaid trunk door with moulded frame and gilt-metal eagle head escutcheon, conforming inlays to sides, above rebuilt plinth on bun feet DIAL: the 8¼ inch square brass dial engraved with tulips and foliage around the narrow silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic outer minutes and trident half hour markers, signed to the lower border Eduardus East Londini , the finely matted centre with date square and engraved central Tudor rose, pierced hour and minute hands MOVEMENT: the bottle-necked plates joined by six latched and ringed pillars and with four latched dial feet, verge escapement, replaced bolt and shutter maintaining power, strike on bell; the original seatboard strengthened and repositioned, two brass cased weights, pierced foliate engraved winding key, apparently original, case key 68 in. (172.7 cm.) high; 12½ in. (31.7 cm.) wide; 7 in. (17.8 cm.) deep
