A Charles II carved oak chest, circa 1670, the rectangular top with moulded edge above a scroll decorated frieze centred with initials K S, the three panels below carved with stylised palm tree motifs, on stile feet, 73cm high, 114cm wide, 56cm deep The use of such a seemingly exotic form of palm tree in the decorative scheme of this chest is a rare inclusion to carved furniture of this period.
