Beschreibung:

A Charles II beadwork decorated cushion framed wall mirror, circa 1680, the central plate within a beadwork frame decorating with meandering branches of flowers including Iris', daffodils and also including pomegranates, within moulded gilt gesso borders, bearing handwritten inscribed paper labels to the reverse titled ' **Mr Matthew Man, 3 Mths Wages, Charles Chance' twice, and with the following sentence repeated visibly five times 'Nothing, Not any thing' followed by 'Joseph Short October 2. 17**', 77cm high, 69cm wide Provenance: Private Collection, London For a very similar example of beadwork mirror see Christies, South Kensington, Interiors - Masters & Makers, 25th June 2013, Lot 10 (£5,250). The apparent promissory note glued to the rear panel (apparently dating to the eighteenth century) is a rare feature and an interesting insight into the history of the ownership of the mirror.
