A CARVED SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF SEATED BUDAI AND STAND SIGNED ZIXIU, EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY The stone is carved as a seated Budai, holding a scroll in his left hand while his right hand rests on his right knee, leaning against a finely incised brocade pouch. The back of the figure is incised with the signature Zixiu in seal script. The figure is attached to a carved soapstone rocky base. 3 1/8 in. (8 cm.) long, box Provenance H. M.
