A carved and combed qingbai glazed vase, Song dynasty, 11th/12th century of baluster form, surmounted by a tall slightly waisted neck and a flared foliate rim, supported on a short foot ring, carved and combed with lotus blossoms and leaves between a floral scroll at the shoulder and overlapping lotus petals above the foot, the neck with upright plantain, the exterior covered with a thin glaze of pale blue-green tone continuing over the mouth and stopping short of the underside -- 15 5/16in. (38.8cm.) high.
