A 6th Airborne Division Report on Op Varsity A report, originally graded CONFIDENTIAL, entitled 6th AIRBORNE DIVISION REPORT ON OPERATION "VARSITY" and THE ADVANCE FROM THE RHINE TO THE BALTIC, MARCH 24 t h - MAY 2 n d 1945 . This report, of some 45 pages, includes an Operational Report and diary of events of the three-day action of Op "Varsity" (a parachute/glider-borne landing near Wesel on the Rhine) and subsequent advance to Wismar on the Baltic Coast. The report also contains a section on logistic lessons learned and Appendices covering the Order of Battle, Aircraft allocations, casualties in men and vehicles during the three days (24-26 March) of Op Varsity, and a lengthy appreciation of techniques for suppressing enemy interference with landings by paratroops and gliders. There are also 5 map-traces marked with tactical symbols, showing enemy ground- force dispositions etc, some 11 prints of aerial photographs of the Dropping Zone, 7 of them taken vertically, the others giving an oblique view of the area, some originally classified SECRET , and a large folding map showing the course of the Division's advance from the Rhine to the Baltic
