COOPER PATENTEE, EACH CIRCA 1840 The first with turn-off barrel, signed action engraved with martial trophies, sliding thumb-piece safety-catch, folding trigger, figured flat-sided walnut butt with chequered spine, and silver escutcheon, Birmingham proof marks; the second with fluted barrel-block, signed scroll engraved action with ring-trigger, later sliding thumbpiece safety-catch, and figured walnut grips (one chipped, mechanism at fault, discoloured throughout), Birmingham proof marks Respectively 1 5/8in.
