Beschreibung:

Held at the Marine Hotel, North Berwick, Scotland, signed on the front cover by the vast majority of the GB & Ireland team to include B. Hunt, E. Polland, M. Bembridge, N. Coles, B. Barnes, P. Butler, J. Garner, B. Huggett, T. Jacklin, B. Gallacher and wives; the centre pages by Prime Minister Edward Heath, Doug Smith P.G.A Chairman, William Clark President of the U.S.P.G.A. and others and signed by all the US team and their wives on the back cover; in total just over 70 autographs together with a used yellow 1977 Ryder Cup 'Referee' armband .10¾ x 8 inches Between 20-22 September 1973, the Ryder Cup was contested for the first and only time at Muirfield in Scotland. The British PGA had altered its selection procedure by having eight players chosen from a year-long points system and four by invitation. It didn't appear to make much difference with the score being GB & I 13 and the USA 19. The British team captained by Bernard Hunt comprised several famous golfers that included Brian Barnes, Tony Jacklin, Christy O'Connor, Peter Oosterhuis and Bernard Gallacher. Jack Burke's American team was even stronger with the likes of Lee Trevino, Billy Casper, Tom Weiskopf, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus When Lee Trevino discovered that he had drawn Peter Oosterhuis in the morning singles, he remarked that that was an automatic point for the USA team and that if that was not the case, he would after the match kiss his team mates' backsides. Trevino only got a half and upon entering the USA team's locker room, he was greeted with a long row of bare cheeks. It is said that Trevino was speechless for at least 10 seconds!
