A 19th century hunting sword or hanger, with scabbard and by-knife. Probably English, the blade is 34cm long, with a single main edge ad short false edge. The flats of the blade have been frost etched with scrolling foliage and hunting motifs, including a fox. The back spine has further floral etching. The hilt and scabbard fittings are in brass, with an antler grip, bound with brass wire. Complete with by-knife mounted on scabbard side and frog button. Overall length in scabbard 51cm.
