It retained the previous model's basic profile but drew on the 993 for detailing. In addition, the new headlights reverted to the original bug-eye design. The interior was similarly revised, with strong links to the earlier 911 interiors while at the same time looking fresh and modern. Initially, two versions of the 997 were introduced - the 911 Carrera and the 911 Turbo. In February 2006, Porsche introduced the all-wheel-drive, twin turbo powered flagship model – the 911 Turbo at the Geneva Motor Show. The new 3.6-liter Turbo engine was derived from that of the GT3 sports-racer, featuring twin variable turbine technology (VTG) turbochargers from BorgWarner, and now developed its maximum of 473bhp at a relatively low (for a sports car) 6,000 revs, with 457lb/ft of torque available from 1,950 to 5,000rpm which gave the car an impressive 3.9 second 0-62mph sprint and a top speed of 193mph. As usual, the Turbo was styled more aggressively, with a wider body, broader rear wing, and air intakes in the front bumper and ahead of the rear wheels.
