Metmachex Engineering was registered in 1978 with the main source of work sub-contract jobs, interspersed with design and machinery repairs. Their swinging arms, which have become known worldwide throughout the motorbike industry, were first initiated by a customer who asked for his LC350 swinging arm to be repaired. The repair was to be found to be too costly and Metmachex designed a new one made out of aluminium. Soon after, more orders came in to design and manufacture a mirror polished aluminium swinging arm for all kinds of bikes and now produce a wide variety of components using top of the range Cad software. To show case the engineering talents of Metmachex engineering as a company, two bikes were built with this example being frame 001. The owner has informed us the cost of building the motorcycles was in excess of £127,000 and a major manufacture assisted in the financing of the bikes. The specifications included adjustable steering rake by means of two rose joints replacing the usual ball bearing head race. This was a successfully engineered concept bike as the steering can be adjusted to suit any rider's preference. The frame is a very ridged large section aluminium tube configuration with a multiplier on the rear suspension unit. The overhaul effect is a superb handling bike based in the very reliable Suzuki Bandit 1200 mechanicals. The bike offered for sale is frame number 001 with the second bike stolen believed written off. It was purchased by the vendor in June 2009 with 20 miles on the clock; the vendor is only the second owner since its manufacture. Since that date only maintenance miles have been added to the bike with the occasional Sunday afternoon ride out. It now has just over 200 miles on the clock and has a current MoT test certificate valid until July of this year and we are informed it rides beautifully. Throughout the bike has been very carefully stored and has never seen rain. With a robust and reliable Suzuki base, this is a unique bike and offers a something a little different.
