The Ferrari F355 was built from May 1994 to 1999 and was an evolution of the Ferrari 348. It is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive V8-powered two seat coupé. At launch, two models were available: the coupé Berlinetta and the targa topped GTS. The Spider (convertible) version was introduced in 1995. One major difference between the longitudinal V8 in the 348 and that in the 355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres, is that the F355 features a five valve per cylinder head that is considerably more powerful, producing 375bhp. The frame is a steel monocoque with tubular steel rear sub-frame with front and rear suspensions using independent, unequal-length wishbones, coil springs over gas-filled telescopic shock absorbers with electronic control servos and anti-roll bars. Ferrari fitted all road-going F355 models with Pirelli tyres; size 225/40ZR 18 in front and 265/40 ZR 18 in the rear. The nomenclature does not follow the formula from the previous decades, i.e. engine capacity plus cylinder number for example, the Ferrari 308 name comes from 3 litres plus eight cylinders, and same for the 328, 348, 512 etc. This time, Ferrari used engine capacity plus number of valves per cylinder, as they were proud to boast about this technological advancement, so the name 355 equals 3.5 litres engine capacity and five valves per cylinder. The F355 has become the most popular model so far with over 11,273 cars produced. This UK supplied Ferrari 355GTS is finished in rosso (red) with a grey leather interior. This fine example has had just three previous owners and now has covered 52,600 miles from new which is confirmed by the complete service history from Evans Halshaw and Shiltech Ferrari specialists. The original service book was mislaid and a new one acquired from the 18,000 mile mark. A full set of bills and invoices attest to the correct mileage however and it would be simple job to have the book stamped in occordance with a Ferrari main agent and the supplied paperwork. Over £8,000 was spent in July 2009 which included replacing the cambelts as well as a full service. In June 2010, two new oxygen sensor control units were fitted. The car comes with a complete set of service books, wallet, tools, spare red key and car cover as well as an MoT test certificate valid until 28th July 2011 and UK V5 registration document. Forming part of a fascinating collection of Ferrari's, old and new, this well looked after example would certainly be one to consider. Interested parties should note that the registration number is being retained and that a new age-related plate will accompany this lot.
