Rarely does a manufacturer turn out one brilliant design one after another after yet another, but that is exactly what happened with the Continental Mk. III, Mk. IV, and Mk. V series. Spanning a period of more than 10 years, these cars set new standards year after year for design excellence, glamour and prestige. This 1979 example was the last year for the Mk. V and once again came the limited edition series designed by Cartier, Bill Blass Givenchy, and Pucci with new colours and trims selected to awe the Lincoln buyers. Occupants received admiring glances from strangers by merely having the good fortune of riding in such fine automobiles. A smooth, solid ride and quiet cabin are areas where these cars excelled above the rest, calming passengers and isolating them from the turmoil of the world outside. Everything looked different through the tinted windows of a Lincoln Continental. Nominated at the American Fashion Hall of Fame, American designer Bill Blass lent his name and concept to this, a rare limited edition' Bill Blass' edition. A respected leader in his field is also an epithet that can be applied to the vendor of this example. Legendary drummer, Mark Brzezicki , founder member of 1980's rock band, Big Country as well as string of other session acts including Ultravox, Procal Harum, The Cult, Pete Townshend and The Pretenders. In fact, the self-effacing Mark Brzezicki was recently nominated 4th best all-time drummer. Ever. And that's impressive but his real passion seems to be the Mk. V Lincoln Continental and this example represents an excellent example from his collection. This Mk. V addition is distinguished by dark blue body side mouldings and dual Gold paint stripes on body side and rear deck lid, so often missing. Whilst the white carriage roof is standard, the interior leather is more unusual, it being white with blue piping and Bill Blass buttons, and not the other way around. Acquired by said percussionist in 2006 from Cape Elizabeth on America's East coast, it has since been meticulously cared for and forms part of his limited edition Mk. V collection. Supplied with an extensive history file, this, The Bill Blass edition is the embodiment of outdoor life.
